It is nearing the end of a really positive week here at Devil is in the Detail and whilst we have provided a range of services this week from partial wraps, roof wraps, decals and even FREE dent removal, a number of our customers were interested in the background to the business.
So for the first of our business blogs, I thought I’d give you the insight to how Devil is in the Detail came about.
From Teaching to Learning:
Having served 19 years in the education sector, with 9 years in mainstream secondary schools and 10 years running my own education provision working with disengaged learners in Leeds, I had got to a stage that I just felt the time was right for me to seek a new challenge.
Having been a figure trying to support others in their learning, it was time for me to learn a new array of skills and knowledge and to be on the opposite side of the learning experience.
I have a range of friends who have been in the car trade for some time, so I decided to do some research around this and was intrigued by the vehicle wrapping and graphics work. I like to think I am a creative mindset and have an eye for detail. I think these are just some of the important requisites of being in the wrapping and graphics trade.
Once I had decided to go down the vehicle wrapping and graphics front, I invested heavily in training courses, tools and materials and had been working from home trying to hone my skills. William Smith, Roland DG UK and Your Print Specialists have been incredibly supportive, as has Craig Nicholson at UV TechFilms.
I believe that if you are going to do something, then you must invest in both yourself and the best tools around. As well as the wrapping and other training I had accessed for the application side, I had and probably still have a steep learning curve on the print side. I had gone from a classroom environment to now having to consider a range of new areas of skill and expertise.
The new role in vehicle wrapping and graphics involves:
The design elements
The print and laminate stage
Vehicle stripping and trim removal
Application and Installation
Post Heating and aftercare
On top of that we can provide a range of other vinyl applications such as stickers, decals, banners, wall and floor graphics and even dent removal.
Hopes for the business:
My immediate aim is to raise awareness of our services and establish our premises at Selby Business Centre and to provide a high quality product or service that customers are happy with. I also look forward to supporting local businesses in Selby and the wider area and like this week has shown, meeting plenty of new people along the way.
In the future I also want to look at offering wider services such as window tinting and paint protection films.
